Alii'a E'lan at Mount St. Helens, in ceremonial attire, to honor the Lady/Goddess/Mother of the mountain.
I was living in Seattle, visiting a friend's home on Lake Washington early on May 18, 1980, when I heard the mountain explode all those many miles away. This photo was taken nine years later, in July of 1989, and is located about five miles from the crater. The devastation then was mind-boggling, even after all those years, seeing 200' fir, pine and cedar trees laying about, looking like toothpicks scattered over the mountainsides. The psychic impression I received upon first visiting the area was This Lady was pissed! Too many of us humans are destroying our home, simply for the sake of short-term profit! My companion for this trip and I were very moved by visiting the area, both emotionally and spiritually and, after taking our pictures, we each performed our own private ritual to thank our Mother Earth for allowing us the time spent in this sacred and very powerful location.
